KDE 4.2.4 has been released!

On the 3rd of June 2009, KDE 4.2.4, codename CornRow, has been released by the KDE community. This release contains mainly bugfixes on some components of the desktop environment.

kernel 2.6.30-rc8 is available

Kernel 2.6.30-rc8 is available for download by kernel.org

You must pay attention because this kernel have not all the patch used by the official release of the various GNU/Linux' distributions like Mandriva, OpenSUSE, Ubuntu and so on.

Google's foundator uses Chrome on Linux

TechCrunch asked to Sergey Brin, google's co-foundator, the status of its development for Mac.

But Sergey replied that at the moment he's using Chrome on linux!!

Oracle's bid for Sun Microsystems is a good way to kill off open-source database, MySQL.

But MySQL's former chief executive, Marten Mickos, sees things differently: Chief Larry Ellison might become a friend of open source, after all, if it helps him get at his long-time enemy, Microsoft.

Database giant Oracle has agreed to buy Sun Microsystems for $7.4bn, or $9.5 a share, in cash. The surprise move comes in the wake of IBM walking away from a possible buyout of Sun Microsystems for $6.85bn. "The acquisition of Sun transforms the IT industry, combining best-in-class enterprise software and mission-critical computing systems," said Oracle CEO Larry Ellison.

"Oracle will be the only company that can engineer an integrated system - applications to disk - where all the pieces fit and work together so customers do not have to do it themselves. Our customers benefit as their systems integration costs go down while system performance, reliability and security go up."
